1960s

1960-





  • The Pill was finally introduced to women. This invention of contraception was a long time coming, but when it did in the 60s women could finally be free to do a lot more: work, go out and have sex more freely without the worry of getting pregnant.


1964-

  • The Civil Rights Act is passed in America. Such a defiante part of black history during the 50s and 60s providing equality for blacks in America but having an effect on the whole world. The way black people are represented from then on has continuously changed.

  • Nelson Mandela is imprisioned for life sparking protests across the world.

1960s-

  • Hippie is a term originally used to describe some of the rebellious youth of the 1960s and 1970s.

1969-

  • Man walks on the moon.
