2000-
  • Millennium bug

A 'moral panic' that all computers would crash when this time came. (it never did)

  • Reality television came to Britain. Shows such as 'Big Brother' revolutionised television giving audiences something new and demonstrates a more explicit society with more openness to people's business.

TERRORISM STRIKES

2001-

  • 9/11- Possiblt the biggest event to happen so far in the 21st century. After the colapse of the Twin Towers in New York, through terrorism, the world has been shocked at this new form of evil in the oppressed East attacking the Western world. Ever since then its been the same.

2003-

  • The Iraq War begins with the USA and Britain declaring war.

'Islamaphobia' is a basic term nowadays to show anxiety towards Islam in what seems to be a war of religion, rights and representation.

2004-

Tsunami hits-

Leaving 100s of thousands dead in the Far East mainly. Around the world people pulled together to unite in this natural disaster, raisng billions for the cause.

2005-

  • 7/7- the attack in London that left around 52 people dead. It shocked the city and brought to life the real war that is being faced. Suicide bombers came and chose public transport to be their target in a random attack on the West, however, killing what was an all race attack. The multiculturalism of London was shown when people from all races and religions were affected.
